Feeling lost, veteran Sherman Oliver sets out in search of the soldier who saved him back in the war. That man, Franklin Page, has long since moved on, with a wife, children, and a job in a quiet rural town. Upon arriving, Sherman seems harmless, awkward, a shell of a man. But as he inserts himself into the Pages’ life, he reveals that he is angry and unstable, prone to great jealousy and deep resentment. Franklin’s quiet life is soon threatened, and the violence he left behind in the war begins to re-emerge, threatening his family and his town.
